Afternoon!
The meal out on Thursday was lovely. I wasn't overly enthused by the food and found myself getting full a lot more quickly than usual, but it was a nice way to spend the evening.
Yesterday I was back to it though :)
Food was as follows:
Breakfast - Porridge made with 50g oats and 250ml skimmed milk (272.2kcal, 19.8%)
Lunch - Toast with low fat spread (321.6kcal, 23.4%)
Dinner - Fishcakes with broccoli and new potatoes (680kcal, 49.6%)
Drinks - Tea, Water, Ribena (65.5kcal, 4.8%)
Snacks - Apple (32.5kcal, 2.4%)
Carbs - 52%
Protein - 17.5%
Fat - 30.4%
Fruit & veg portions - 2.9 (must do better!)
We had a strange day yesterday that meant what I was supposed to eat for lunch went out of the window. I won't go into detail today but there may be some changes coming for us that, if they happen, will get us more quickly on the path we want to be. Needless to say it meant my prepared salad didn't happen, and an easier and much less healthy lunch of toast happened instead. Tis life.
This morning I've been to the library to get some revision done. I'm just taking a break now to have lunch (jacket potato with cheese & beans - yumzers) and will get back to it this afternoon. The boy is making the Hairy Dieters Spanish Chicken Bake tonight (recipe here) - it's soooo good. We have the recipe book and there are some really fantastic low calorie dishes in there, I highly recommend it :) You can buy it here.
Enjoy the rest of your weekends!

Weekly weigh in
And I've lost 3.5lbs! Go me! I last weighed myself on 28/12 and was 16stone2.25lbs (226.25lbs/102.63kg). Today I'm 15stone12.75lbs (222.75lbs/101.04kg), which is about where I was before the Christmas eating began!
Tonight the boy and I are going out for a meal. It's an offer that we bought a few months before Christmas and it expires this week so we have to use it. We're off to a nice pub in the high street for some grub, and I fully intend to enjoy what's on offer. Doubtful that I'll have any alcohol, but I will be partaking in dessert. Then it's back on form tomorrow.
Yesterday's eats were like this:
Breakfast - 483.1kcal (31.9%)
Lunch - 293.6kcal (19.4%)
Dinner - 669.4kcal (44.2%)
Drinks - 70kcal (4.6%)
Broken down as:
Carbs - 42.3%
Protein - 25.1%
Fat - 32.6%
Although tonight will undoubtedly involve sugar at some point, I just want to point out that I have enjoyed 3 days without any sugar. That's a huge thing for me. Tackling the amount of sugar I consume is going to be a major part of me losing weight. I'll go more into this another time (off to the dentist soon!), but 3 days for me is an accomplishment right now and I'm feeling pretty pleased.
Until tomorrow!

Yesterday's stats
Morning!
Very bad night's sleep last night. I had a cold just before Christmas and I'm still quite congested, it makes getting to seep very difficult, so much for getting up early to go to the gym! Still, the boy is still in bed too without having had a cold so I'm not the only lazy one!
I'm not back at work until next Monday so hopefully I'll get this congestion gone and my proper sleeping pattern back before then!
So yesterday we went over to see my Nan and parents. It meant that instead of the salad I had planned I had oxtail soup instead.
I did make the avocado pasta though, although without a blender it was more lumps of avocado with pasta, but it was still delicious. Had a mammoth salad with it also, consisting of romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, beetroot and balsamic vinegar.
Breakdown:
Breakfast - 305.4 kcal (19.4%)
Lunch - 84 kcal (5.3%) (not enough for lunch I know, but I was caught off guard so went with the option I thought was best)
Dinner - 1097.8kcal (69.7%) (very high, due to the avocado and the amount of pasta I had)
Drinks - 86.7kcal (5.5%)
Total - 1574.1kcal
Number of portions of fruit & veg - 8.5
Carbs - 42.6%
Protein - 21.2%
Fat - 61.2%
Overall a good first day I think. Obviously ideally the distribution would be a bit more even but not having a big lunch meant we had an earlier than usual dinner, which is I think a good habit to get into. The fat content is high due to the avocados but as they are deemed a 'healthy' fat I'm not going to worry too much about that.
Today I'll be doing some studying (I'm taking my GCSE Biology again :)), we have a flat viewing (our current landlady is selling up - the joys of renting!) and I may hit the gym. If I don't do the latter, I'm not going to beat myself up over it. I am aiming to do the gym 3 times a week and I have achieved that already over the last week. It might be a good idea to get a little fresh air in though and have a walk outside. The weather isn't looking as bright and fresh as yesterday but it doesn't appear to be raining - winner! Think it will help with the congestion!
The food plan today is shaping up as follows:
Breakfast - 2 boiled eggs, 2 slices toast with butter
Lunch - Salad made with beetroot, goats cheese and romaine lettuce (once again, inspiration taken from here)
Dinner - This (quite nervous about trying this, as I've attempted to make healthier curries before using yoghurt and it's curdled - not very nice at all, I think the key is to add it slowly, I'll let you know how it goes!)
As mentioned before, I use this site to help me with my weight loss, tracking my food and general support.
Right, let's get this day going!

Happy New Year!
2013 is here!
This is my year. Mine.
I'm starting the year weighing the same as I did this time last year. I made no progress in losing weight, but neither did I gain.
I have a much more positive attitude than this time last year. So much was up in the air, and when I think of how far we have come since then I'm so pleased.
You all know why I'm here. To get this weight off for good.
Food plan for today:
Breakfast - 50g porridge oats with 260ml of skimmed milk and an apple
Lunch - Nicoise Salad (inspiration taken from here - fantastic blog, bang on advice)
Dinner - Avocado Pasta (also taken from here - take a look!)
No exercise today, the boy and I did a spin class yesterday (he's joined my gym!). It was his first time and he loved it. Worked us both hard and we were both a lovely shade of beetroot afterwards!
Some highlights of last year:

Dogged persistence
I did the spin class!
7am yesterday morning there I was - tiring myself out for the day! I enjoyed it though and although I was tired for the remainder of the day (also had a migraine later in the afternoon - always fun!) I loved the satisfaction of having it 'done' for the day.
I'm up early again tomorrow to do a half hour Body Pump class.
Am sat here watching Supersize v Superskinny. It's easy to judge but there but for the grace of God go I. My blood pressure was taken the other at the gym and it's a little higher than it should be. I'm starting to get scared about what continuing on this track will do to my long term health.
I will do this. I have to.

I've joined the gym...
The last few days have not been great food wise. I've made the tough but right decision to pull out of the NYC trip. Money and my lack of fitness are my reasons. I'm giving myself a few more days to think it through but think my decision is pretty final.
So, on to a more positive note - I've joined the gym! There is a Fitness First club less than 5 minutes away from my flat - it's one I've worked out at before - it has a pool, spin studio, etc.
Tomorrow before work I plan on completing my first workout - a spin class!!!
Here goes nothing!!!
